MUSIC VIDEO TREATMENT

As part of the planning process of our music video we created a treatment which we presented to the rest of the class as part of our plan for our music video. This allowed us to collect more ideas as well as develop them in order to improve our music video. The questions that were asked prompted us to think more carefully about the costume and lighting as they add to the genre, mood and atmosphere of the music video. The costume gives a suggestion to the genre of a music video because the audience for stereotypes and expect to see things that are perhaps indicative or stereotypical of the genre.

We also thought about the type of mood and atmosphere that we wanted within our music video and so we wanted to match the lighting and costume to the mood of the song so that it creates a relationship with the visuals, lyrics and the song. We also found that we needed to contact the band for permission to use their song as part of our music video to avoid copyright and to also show that the song does not belong to us. Through the treatment we were able to consider how we were going to develop our music video through the use of effects and different techniques to help achieve different moods and atmospheres that would create a relationship with the visuals, song and lyrics.
